This page explains how reviews are created, disclosed, and edited on this site. These standards apply to every review and feature, whether sponsored or non-sponsored, and they exist for one reason: to keep the work trustworthy over time while setting clear expectations for readers, brands, and PR teams.
Everything here is written to help people make decisions with context, not to push them into buying something. I’m interested in what holds up in real life, what gets annoying over time, and what is quietly not worth it once the novelty wears off.
How Reviews Are Conducted
Reviews on this site are based on real use or lived experience. I spend time with the product, place, or experience before writing about it, and I focus on what it is like to live with it in normal conditions rather than perfect conditions.
Each review aims to answer a consistent set of questions. Who is this actually for, who should skip it, what works well in practice, what does not, and what tradeoffs come with it. When helpful, I include comparisons or alternatives to give readers a clearer frame of reference, especially when a category has multiple “good enough” options.
Sponsored vs Non-Sponsored Reviews
Some content on this site is sponsored and some is not. The difference is always disclosed clearly in the post itself. Sponsored means the placement and production are paid for, but it does not mean a guaranteed positive review, a scripted narrative, or the removal of drawbacks.
The same editorial standards are applied across sponsored and non-sponsored work. I maintain editorial control, I write in my own voice, and I include limitations when they matter. Brands can request factual corrections, but they cannot reshape the opinion, framing, or conclusions to make a piece more promotional.
Disclosures and Affiliate Links
Sponsored content is labeled as sponsored. If a post contains affiliate links, it will be disclosed, and I may earn a commission if you purchase through those links at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not determine what I write, how I evaluate something, or whether I include criticism.
Links are included when they help a reader find the product, place, or context being discussed. They are not included to pressure action, and I avoid inserting links that don’t belong in the reading experience.
Editorial Control, Revisions, and Corrections
I keep full editorial control over everything published on this site. A brand or partner may request one round of review for factual accuracy, such as correcting names, prices, ingredients lists, specifications, dates, or other objective details.
I do not accept requests to remove criticism, soften honest limitations, or revise a conclusion for perception management. If I make a factual error, I will correct it. If someone disagrees with an opinion, that stays as an opinion, because that’s part of what a review is.
Handling Brand Claims and Product Information
Brands may provide press materials, product descriptions, ingredient lists, specifications, or performance claims. When I reference these, they are treated as brand-provided information and may not reflect universal outcomes. Formulas, pricing, availability, menus, service quality, and policies can change without notice, and a review reflects the experience and information available at the time it was created.
If a claim is central to a decision and I cannot reasonably verify it through experience or public information, I treat it cautiously and frame it as a claim rather than a guarantee.
What I Don’t Do
I don’t publish first impressions disguised as reviews, and I don’t pretend that a short try-on is the same as lived use. I don’t accept scripts, talking points, or copy that is meant to be pasted as-is into my site.
I don’t guarantee positive coverage, and I don’t remove drawbacks to make something sound better. I also don’t participate in collaborations that require exaggerated, misleading, or unverifiable claims, especially in categories like skincare and wellness where wording can easily overpromise.
Health, Skincare, and Responsibility
Skincare and wellness content on this site is for informational purposes based on personal experience. It is not medical advice, it does not replace professional guidance, and outcomes can vary widely depending on skin type, sensitivity, routine, environment, and pre-existing conditions.
If you have known allergies, active skin conditions, or concerns that require professional care, use judgment and consult a qualified professional. A review can describe experience and context, but it cannot predict your results.
Third-Party Links and External Services
This site may link to third-party websites, retailers, booking platforms, or external resources. I’m not responsible for the content, policies, pricing, availability, or conduct of third parties. Any purchase, booking, or decision you make based on a review is your responsibility, and you should confirm details directly with the provider before committing.
Updates and Longevity
Reviews are written to stay useful over time. If key details change significantly, I may update a post for clarity or context. Updates are meant to keep information accurate, not to chase trends or rewrite the original experience to match a new narrative.
Final Note
These standards exist to keep the work consistent, independent, and readable in the long run. If something appears here, it’s because I spent time understanding it and wrote about it honestly, with disclosure where required and context where it matters.
